On a BA Holiday to Istanbul in April my intention was a slight variation on Option C - take car to hotel and for return - maybe use one day out of 6.
I read The T & C's and because of the way the car was added to the flight I was of the opinion the double points terms were at risk - and the clincher for the trip was my partner getting to Gold.
In the end b) was operative!
Despite my Avis Preferred Plus and BA status they could not find a car with SatNav - even with an offer to pay. They tried hard - physically gpoing to distant vehicles and even trying to fit Garmin type devices to several vehicles. (The mind was boggling pondering why their systems couldn't advise them).
An hour later and it was dark. I wasn't going to attempt to drive to The IC Taksim without navigation so I told them to just terminate the agreement. Explaining I was not expecting a refund took a while but another 30 minutes and I got the return paperwork - without leaving the facility.
Took a taxi to the hotel.
Double points duly credited.
