So you decided to make your entire family suffer with a canceled vacation rather than take one for the team by giving Hertz an extra $700 which seems to be similar in cost as the nonrefundable costs.
Nope. it was just me.
Also, by the time I would have picked up the car from the airport it would have been past 6pm. My destination was over 5 hours away east, so I would not have arrived till well after 1:00am. I was on an intense business trip for 3 days prior to that, so I was in no condition to do that drive by myself at that time of night. SO, I would have to wait until the next day. So I would have lost the hotel for that night PLUS had to spend an extra night in Vegas. Facotring those 2 thing sin would have INCREASED my "extra" $ by around $1,000(airpot fees + Vegas hotel + non refundable hotel).
In addition since, my desitnation was over 5 hours away I would have to wait until the airport rental place was open the following day. And as I said the destination was in the next time zone east, so I would not have been able to arrive until mid to late afternoon and not be able to do any of the things I had planned. So, I would have lost 2 days of a 3 day trip by picking up from the airport in addition to paying over an extra $1,000. I'm not an idiot. I did a cost benefit analysis and losing the non-refundable hotels was the the least financially harmful as well as the most predictable scenario.
Its as simple as this: Hertz provided confirmation a car was available. No car was available. Their only option was for ME to pay extra for something they caused.
The victim blaiming on this board is nuts!
