Booked a tentative flight in Feb 2023 while AC still had their old flexibility policy in place, with the understanding I could receive a non-expiring AC voucher, without penalty, if I needed to cancel.
Found out a few weeks ago that I would be unable to travel... however, AC has since updated their flexibility policy, and have now reinstated cancellation fees. They have also chosen to retro-actively apply this to any bookings that were in place prior to this policy change.
So effectively, now that AC vouchers don't exist anymore, I will have to pay a $100 cancellation fee to retain the value of the ticket for future travel.
I've wrote into AC 3 weeks ago, but have yet to receive a response. My flight is scheduled for later this week, and am running out of time waiting on a response. Does anyone have any advice on what to do, or how I can escalate this issue? Or should I just cancel the flight, and attempt to reach some agreement with AC later?
