My wife and I stayed from June 6 - June 9th and overall had a great time. This is our second time staying at Alila Ventana, as we stayed a year prior as part of our honeymoon trip. Overall, the property was beautiful just as we remembered with some noticeable improvements to the quality of the food.
We live in San Diego and headed out for Alila Ventana on June 5th, stopping on the way for one night in San Luis Obispo. Highway 1 was closed near Ragged Point, so we had to take Highway 101 over to the coast near Carmel, which to me seemed like it took around the same amount of time (maybe slightly longer) as it would have if we would been able to take Hwy 1. We arrived on the afternoon of June 6, about an hour before check in time. We booked a Big Sur Suite on points (3 nights totaling 190k points). Upon arrival, our room was still be prepared which was no problem as we sat in the Social House where we were offered different types of drinks and snacks. I did not receive an upgrade as I am only an Explorist, so I'm sure I was significantly outnumbered by the Globalist community. No complaints though as we thoroughly enjoyed our room. Once our room was ready, we made our way up there. We walked, but as a side note, they will give you a ride to virtually anywhere on the property. Our room was situated above the mountain pool overlooking the ocean. Very clean and comfortable. No hot tub or shower on the balcony, but we knew that when booking.
While there, we took part in the hour long honey tasting presentation, went on a guided foraging hike, visited the Japanese hot baths and since we had one good day of sun we went to the Meadow pool. The Meadow pool has a small bar near by which serves good drinks and beer.
We dined at the Sur House each night. I noticed a tremendous improvement in the food quality since our previous stay in July of 2022. The food was good then, but it seemed even better now.
Highly recommend Alila Ventana for a quiet getaway.
