Menus were offered on boarding, along with a PDB of sparkling water, orange juice or Prosecco. Dinner orders (for main courses only) were also taken on the ground.
After takeoff, service commenced with water bottles being handed out, followed by hot towels. This was followed by tables being laid with a cloth (far preferable to BA Club World where the cloth goes over both the tray and the table - even if the AA cloth doesn't cover the entire table), and then dinner trays from the trolley. Warm bread was offered from a basket and drinks were served from a follow-up trolley - the norm on late night departures with no bar service before dinner.
The Latin shaved beef starter was forgettable, but the seasonal greens were quite good once I'd requested the missing balsamic vinegar.
My main course (hand delivered) of macadamia crusted sea bass was quite decent.
Because it's illegal to have any other dessert when flying AA internationally, I finished dinner with an ice cream sundae (also hand delivered) with the works (although the chopped pecans were absent).
Breakfast trays were delivered by hand around 90 minutes before arrival. The fresh fruit bowl was good.
