This happened to me last year when I paid balance on BA holiday, it was only a small balance as rebooked from Covid days but original cost of holiday was £7000 and surcharges were only £3/4 but I emailed them and got it refunded. So this has been going on since at least last august! I would have asked for refund if it had been a single penny as it’s a principle.
