note NYT doesn’t and has never charged ‘monthly’ but every 4 weeks. I think a lot of people get confused by the marketing, but it is a difference, as you get charged 13x/year instead of $12, and from a digital entertainment credit perspective, it means one month of the year you will be charged twice, so maybe not get reimbursed depending on if you use the rest of the credit.
If you are interested in extending the $4 offer, you can chat with customer care to cancel. They will then offer you to extend the $4 promo for another year.
I switched from regular to all access earlier last year, since we were doing cooking separately and so that made more sense, even at full price. We subscribed at a promo rate of $6/4 weeks, which ended around April. I was fully expecting to be charged the $25 amount, but a few days before renewal, NYT sent me an email that they were giving me a year at half off, so $12/4 weeks. I never contacted them to cancel - I wasn’t going to, as we use our subscription a lot. I don’t know how common this is - with all access or just the regular subscription, but at least for me I still got a pretty good discount without doing anything. YMMV, of course.
