You want to know if you will be covered yet not have clarification on using airline credits - IMO, the latter leads to the former.

There are a couple of exceptions to the ‘whole cost’ needs to be on the card. From the trip cancelation/interruption terms:

You must charge the full amount of a Covered Trip to your Eligible Card or in combination with your Eligible Card and accumulated points on your Eligible Card or redeemable certificates, vouchers, coupons, or discounts awarded from a frequent flyer program or similar program.
I’ve always assumed United FFCs, TravelBank, Delta eCredits, etc. count as certificates or voucher, so should allow coverage.
