Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park
What is your Priority Club status?
Diamond Ambassador
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
The hotel is close to Lumpini Park. The subway station Silom and the BTS skytrain Sala Daeng is walkable from the hotel.
The hotel is located at floors 23 to 32 of an office tower. From the entrance on the ground floor one has to take an elevator to the 23 floor where check in counters are located.
I arrived at the hotel at 15:30 (I had taken Sixt Ride from the airport) and was the only guest checking in. I was given a cold drink and cold towel. The agent retrieved the reservation from the system and immediately noticed that I was staying in a Suite and had club access. In so far the formalities would be done in the club lounge. Another member of staff accompanied me to the club lounge on the 31st floor.
There another cold drink and towel awaited me and everything was prepared. The agent thanked me for being a Diamond member and asked if I like the points. Breakfast would be part of the lounge benefits and drinks would be also available, so she suggested points would be the best option. I was given a letter with information about the hotel and the lounge.
I was not accompanied to the room but to the elevator, which was okay for me.
A fitness center is available on the 24th floor along with a outdoor pool and jacuzzi. There is also a small gym. Sauna and showers are part of the locker rooms. Towels were provide along with bottles of water.
The gym had older equipment. Steppers, bikes and treadmills but also a number of body machines were available. Despite older equipment and showing its age, it was fine and did its job. It was especially nice to see a quite large number of weight machines. It was not that busy during my visits, but I was not always alone. It is open 24/7.
The pool shows its age and it was not redone since the hotel opened as Pan Pacific. Definitively not up to date anymore and more of the small side, but okay. Lounge chairs were available and till noon the sun did not hit the pool area completely. Pool is open from 06:00 to 22:00. It was possible to do some laps.
Breakfast is served as buffet on the 23 floor in restaurant “Panorama”. Asian (Japanese and Thai) and European options are available. There was not so much regarding Indian or Malaysian food. It was possible to order eggs. Available were a selection of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt, bread. Tea and coffee were brought by staff, juices were self service. Service was good, though not always that attentive.
During my first day, the F&B manager welcome me and thank me for being a Diamond Members and asked, if everything was okay and if I needed something else.
I split my breakfast between lounge and restaurant during my stay.
The hotel offers pressreader
Which room did you book, and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard room and used a Lounge Upgrade for the stay. It was applied to my reservation, which was immediately upgraded to the next room category. After around 12 hours is showed as smoking room. Therefore I contacted the hotel and asked for a non-smoking room. This was corrected withing 3 hours and showed as Junior Suite in my profile.
Flexible rate was including taxes approximately 135 USD.
How are the rooms?
My suite was located on the 26th floor. I received a renovated room.
After stepping into the room, a guest half size bathroom was to the right (featuring a Toto washlet).
To the left was the living room. At the entranced in a closet was a fridge, tea and coffee facilities. The desk was also placed there along with phone and power and USB outlets and desklamp.
A sofa was facing the wall mounted TV with mirrorscreen function. A table / foodrest was there as well.
A sliding room leads to the bedroom with a king size bed. Opposite the bed were sideboard with drawers and another wall mounted TV. Two bedside table with lamps and two reading spots in the ceiling. There was also an alarm clock and an outlet and USB charging outlet at each side of the bed. Lights could be controlled by a master swith at the bedside. A lounge chair was there. Given the shape of the hotel, the bedroom was shaped as triangle. The closet was large enough to store clothes. A bathrobe, slippers and the umbrella was placed there as well. The in-room safe was large enough for a (smaller) 13 inch laptop.
The bathroom was facing the interior of the building. The toilet (Toto washlet) was separated by a door with frosted glass. Two sinks with a large mirror. A stand-alone tub and a large walk in shower with rain shower and handshower. It was only on / off, one could not adjust the water pressure.
Two set of towels in small, medium and large size were provided. Towels were of different quality; some seem to be older while others were newer and in better condition.
The bathroom had more than sufficient place to store items net to the sink, but there were only two hooks. Shampoo, bath foam, and lotion were the large bottles. Water pressure was okay.
Four bottles of water were provided in the bathroom, two in the halfsize guest bathroom at the entrance and four in the room. They were restocked daily. Half empty bottle were not replaced.
No pen / biro and writing pad were available in the room but restocked at the second day.
Air condition was the weak point. The temperature could not really be adjusted. First I thought this was worse, but in the end it was sufficient to turn the a/c on in the living room during the night (if at all). Other, I cooled the room down while being not in the room.
In general, the condition of the room was okay, not the best and despite renovated had some minor scratched and not the best finishings. The water drained not very good on one sink. This was discovered by housekeeping and called maintenance to repair it themselves. This was a bit if surprise, as I usually not expect such forward thinking and certainly not in Asia.
Mrs Gerits told me, that the lounge will get a soft refurbishment (wood floor will be redone, some new furniture) after the renovation of the rooms is finished in September. There will also be some new lights on the floors to make it brighter. The pool will also be redone and maybe the Jacuzzi will not survive this renovation. They are not sure, if they get a pool bar or make room for more lounge chairs.
How is the exec. lounge?

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
The location is good. The rooms are of a good size. Room is in good condition and offers a real desk. Pool and fitness are available. Breakfast buffet is good, but not outstanding.
Staff is in general very friendly and helpful. Management interacts with guest, though I did not know, if they care about the feedback. But I would think so. They were well aware of the competitors and that the CP is an older hotel.
In so far, I would return, if the rates are affordable. Points posted without issue quickly.
