In my experience, SQ should be more open to route OP via SFO/LAX onto a SQ codeshare on AC then do the same via NRT. In theoriot shouldn't matter, but with SQ doing the longhaul the add on flight is marginal cost for them (revenue share wise and all). Good luck, keep pushing on this and best come equipped with preferred flight options when calling already.
