This protest/action is probably a precursor demonstration to get their message out about the potential of a hotel workers strike starting next weekend.
If you'll pardon the deeply cynical question, but...why are they being allowed to do this? Like, "You're not on strike (yet) and you're making a total hash of traffic" feels like a reason to tell them to march/rally in a non-obstructing public place (e.g. a park or something).

(I can kinda get it if a picket line is getting in the way. This just makes me scratch my head.)
