Ok, all of this is good information. A couple of interesting points in my experience.
- Not all incidentals apparently count as points. We tend to dine/drink on the property a fair amount. But at the Scottsdale property where we spent a significant amount on incidentals, at checkout they told me the restaurants and bars are 'third party' and don't count as points.
- What I'm asking re
repayment, is if there is a way to say book a trip or buy gift cards for next year but pay for it this year to obtain the points towards status. I'm 90% certain I can't, but thought the hive mind might know some loopholes
- The one bill for 3 rooms is a new one, that could be a good way to do it. Are all hotels ok to do it? Or do they push back? I'll definitely take advantage of this.
- (side note... with Fairmonts these days, 2000EUR is quite easy to go through. Even just one night with 2 rooms at the Toronto Royal York will be $1500+/-)
Here's an extended question... My previous diamond years I blew through the diamond spend requirement. Do you think it's worth shooting a note to the Accor support group near year end to see if they'll just honour diamond based on likely spend next year plus history?
Again, thanks to everyone for jumping in.
