Yes that is a very good point that was pointed out to me as well. This person is EU based and will fly shorthaul in Europe. Lufhansa K class doesn't give any mileage and therefore I was told it wouldn't give any "segments". But nevertheless, even if a few times she flies in K class, if won't be the case all the time.

My thinking is really that if you want to achieve Status just with segments, then I could not find a better one.

Maybe a good compromise could be Avianca LifeMiles with 45 segments and a lower mileage threshold also.
