I’m not sure AF is worst than AT (my most recent experience - 2 days ago - with delayed luggage), but my bags were routed VLC-FRA-CMN on LH instead of VLC-CMN direct flight so that I receive them sooner than having to wait for the next direct VLC-CMN flight 2 days later.

i assume most airlines would do the same, route through the fastest option.

Interestingly, in CMN, if your bag is delayed, they’ll only deliver it if it was delayed due to an AT-operated flight (our case, though IB-coded), otherwise you have to come back to the airport to pick it up. Worth checking at TBS?
