Think of it this way: trip cancelation/interruption is for covering existing expenses when you need to cancel or interrupt your trip due to something that happened to you or a companion (due to, for example. illness or injury making you unable to travel, etc.). Trip delay is when you have a delay or cancelation from your travel provider, and covers new expenses (like hotel accommodation, meals, etc.).
Thanks for the help! Not sure if you know but for future purposes, is trip delay's, "delay" hours starting from original flight until the flight they rebook me on or the flight I change myself to?
Also, Southwest just told me (and issued me 250 dollars voucher without me asking) it was cancelled for crew rest. This isn't a covered reason is it?
