Hi all,
I typically steer away from OTAs as a general rule of thumb but there is a potential flight booking where booking through Chase UR at the 1.5 cent redemption level makes more cents. FWIW, UA wants 27,000 miles for a $272 cash ticket, and obviously that would be closer to 18K Chase points if booking through them.
I feel like I saw this somewhere in the past, but a quick mechanical question: if I book a UA flight (non-refundable regular economy) with Chase points, can I cancel the ticket on UA's site to get a travel credit (in essence whatever Chase paid UA for), so I don't have to go through Chase in case I need to cancel?
Fully prepared for the answer to be a big fat "no" as likely UA would tell me to pound sand and talk to Chase, but figured I'd make the ask before booking anything.
I searched and saw these two relevant threads but no direct answer:

Thanks in advance.
