What is your Priority Club status?
Diamond Amassador
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard Queen Bed. Got exactly that on the lowest floor facing the entrance and main road.
How are the rooms?
Small and basic. I rejected the first room due to a badly fitting window giving no sound proofing.
Beds only UK Queen = small double. 2 pillow cases and duvet cover were inside out! Housekeeping were not available until 17.00 to fix.
Fridge contained 2 small plastic bottles of water from a brand I'd never heard of.
No amenities not even slippers.
No face towels which is becoming an irritating UK norm at CP standard.
How is the exec. lounge?
Yes it does exist. Size and furnishing quite pleasant. Coffee is Nespresso machine only. They had run out of small bottles of still water but on request offered a large bottle. Evening cocktail hours were longer than many 17.30 to 20.00. But they didn't wheel anything out until 17.45. Drinks were a small selection of beers and cider plus red/white/rose (one choice of each). No spirits. The canapes were limited and very low grade. They weren't replenished and ran out quickly. Not even a canape replacement let alone a meal replacement. I had a lounge pass. If I had payed the significant premium for lounge access I would not have been happy.
What was good and what was bad?
Good
Not very much. It was all very average. More like an HI than a CP. I hadn't stayed since just after opening and location has improved - but only because development has brought the City to the hotel!
Didn't use it but swimming pool looked OK for UK city centre hotel.
Bad
Breakfast was in a temporary location in a function room. Really not very good at all. Tinned grapefruit/oranges and defrosted berries - no Decaff coffee beans. I won't go on.
Location is not really bad but it really is on the very perimeter of the city centre.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Payed £96. Not terrible for a Friday night - but not great either.
Unlikely to return unless I read reviews suggesting the place is more professionally run and better staffed
