Recently had a weeknight overnight at the new
Residence Inn San Francisco Airport Millbrae Station after a late flight. I didn't really like it but it's not terrible. No upgrade but there was a Platinum welcome gift of water and cookies in addition to points.
Positives- Very convenient location for transit, obviously. Took Bart one stop then walked past the Bart parking garage.
- Clean, new build
- Two rooftop decks available for guests, one with a giant grill
Negatives- App says I was given a room with a view of the city. Woke up at 7:30am to the sound of construction crews across the street in industrial Millbrae. Clearly heard construction all morning. Was it naive to think the "city" would be San Francisco?
- Breakfast variety poor and room wayyyyyyyy too small for the size of the hotel. Hot selections were pork sausage, scrambled eggs, and spicy egg muffins(?). Weekday breakfast ended at 9am so the last 15 minutes of breakfast were an insane rush of people trying to sleep as late as possible and most of the food was gone before 9am anyway. And the hotel is very long, with the lobby and breakfast all the way at the end, rather than in the middle, so it can be a long walk.
- Were willing to grant 4pm Platinum late check out but housekeeping visited the room twice to see if I had left
I guess I would try it again, especially if I needed Bart access. But it would be with the knowledge of putting up with a bunch of little annoyances during the stay. If I stayed again, I'd make sure I had a room on one of the longer sides of the hotel. In fact, it seemed like the entire back of the hotel had a view straight down runway 1-Left at the airport, so that might be a fun view.
