A couple of decades ago, I was subjected to a school trip in economy (horror!), but not feeling like endless queuing I went to the business class queue and said ‘auf wiedersehen’ to the teacher and group. That was met with a ‘what the hell are you doing’ from the teacher, to which I responded ‘checkin in?’.. I went to the lounge, while they were still there - and got my seat assignment moved forward, away from the engines on the SK MD80 operating the flight
