It will be kind of random, but the kids can swap around if necessary once on board, groups of the that size tend to be in several blocks fairly close by, and the boarding passes are sorted out on the day. I can't imagine check-in agents are going to try and resolve all bestie requests, they'd be there all night.
agree, I would not expect agents to sort out, they’re busy. Was more trying to figure out how challenging the onboard seat swapping would be.
