But still offering miles like for any other issue is a poor solution for not being exemplary with a plat member.
Aren't they suppose to unboard a non-member if the flight is overbooked vs a plat member ?
No compensation since in the end we flew the original itinerary!

yeah I quite agree with your pros and cons

yes most likely that was the thinking, but honestly that's not something you wanna hear like this in a rush...
The return trip was also highly interesting... The 6pm MUC - CDG flight was planned to be delayed 2 hours since 3:30am (based on emails/texts received), meaning a missed connection and overnight in Paris. No proactive offer to reroute with LH, but we were ok with the longer itinerary if it meant collecting the compensation (at least this time we had ample warning, and we felt playful). Well as you might imagine, our luck turned, and the flight left with more than 4 hours delay (because of rotation issues, MUC airport IT issues making the boarding a clown show where they had no idea who had actually boarded or not, etc. and the later MUC-CDG flight getting cancelled so other pax to accomodate last minute). It left MUC around 10:30pm. Good point: we were both upgraded to J which was nice after waiting for so long, as Mrs Lynxy was getting quite hangry since the food at the lounge is not great
Obviously once we landed in Paris there were many other flights with stranded passengers, and the Bourget show meant hotel rooms were almost entirely booked everywhere... Despite what MUC agents told us when we asked them at the airport around 6pm (when there were still rooms available to book by myself!), AF had not actually held a room for us (again, 2 plats, and they knew since 03:30am...). So the customer service agents in Paris just told us that everything in CDG where they have their partnerships is booked, and to get lost and figure it out ourselves. So we called at least 15 hotels, and literally the only one with one room left was the Ibis Cambronne in Paris 15, for 350€ a night

(when we arrived, the lady at the reception said she was very surprised that we were not afraid by the price). Also in CDG I was able to skip the 1h+ wait for taxis with the Amex/G7 priority booking (it took only 5 minutes to get a driver, thankfully). Great night of sleep from 2am to 5:50, before heading to Orly for the TLS flight (I rebooked the CDG-TLS to ORY-TLS given the location of the hotel)
Lesson learned: never trust AF to book a hotel room (although in the past that had not been an issue but...). Of course I sent everything for reimbursement and compensation (they will probably try to get out of the comp because "storms on Sunday shifted the rotations", but they pissed me for once so I'll fight :P)
Probably the most eventful set of flights in the last 4 years for myself!
