Cannot change passport number

We have 2 current Avios bookings with BA, one to London and back to the US on BA in September, and the other to Tokyo and back on JL in November. I just renewed my passport, so the number is different from the one I provided when I made the bookings months ago.

I was able to update my passport on the BA bookings without difficulty through Manage My Booking. But when I try to “view or change my details” for the JL bookings, it does not let me in. An error message says the passport number I provide to enter the booking details area does not match. I have tried both the old and the new passport numbers and neither one works.

So I checked the personal details in my BSEC account and the new passport number is there, even though Indid not change it myself. I assume it was transferred automatically when I changed in for the September BA flights. So can I also assume it was correctly transferred to the JL bookings as well, even though the system does not recognize it when Intry to get into my booking details?

And if not, does it really matter? We will have to check in at the airport to check luggage and get our passes anyway. But maybe I should bring both old and new passports just in case.
