The below from Cathay UK web site_
"With our free Twilight Check-in™ service,
you can drop your bags off at your UK departure airport between 16:30 and 21:00 the evening before your morning flight. Thanks to Twilight Check-in™, when you arrive at departures the next day, your luggage is already sorted."
I don't know why you keep mentioning this without providing a link to a CX webpage that says this. I searched "Twilight Check-in™" on Google, and it is LS (Jet2.com) that offers this service, not CX. Also, MrGi 's flight is from JFK, not UK. My previous (pre-pandemic) experience was that JFK will not check your bags early. It was possible over a decade ago but certainly not since CX moved to JFK T8.
