These would be the 4 properties in our budget, never been to Cancun or Playa Del Carmen mostly travel to Colombia and Costa Rica.
Ideally, we’d like to be able to go and explore outside the resort for food, nightlife, dancing etc. but having also having the All Inclusive doesn’t hurt for the days we want to stay on site.
I've stayed at a resort in this general area and the only "nightlife" or outside activities was to go to a different resort or use transportation to get into a resort town. If you want access to a lot of other places outside of a resort, I would suggest going to Cancun. I just don't like Cancun too many people, too much traffic (sometimes). But, for shopping and nightlife you can't beat it. Just don't go too low on your budget or you'll end up in a resort full of college students!
