I was just thinking about the UK and about how terrible lounges are here too.
It's not that you can't eat well in the UK either... but somehow it seems that a majority of people are content with eating garbage and politely saying they liked it.
It's customary at the pub for the waiters to come and ask (30 seconds after you barely touched your food) "Is everything alright with your meal?" Then even though you are thinking "this is the same microwaved garbage I could eat anywhere, and btw it's completely bland and tasteless, and there's way too much of it I'd wish you focussed on quality rather than quantity" You reply "Thank you very much, it's perfect" because you are British and you don't want to offend the nice waiter. In fact I'm pretty sure the waiters would be absolutely shocked to ever hear someone reply by the negative.
Maybe there is a similar culture in Holland?
