One sad thing is that pretty much every single outstation lounge that's not in the UK has better food than L52. The quality of the food in ATH, BLQ, PMI, BSL recently to name just a few was surprisingly decent. You'd think KL realizes this is kinda bad for their image?
Not really fair to compare outstation contract lounges to airline-operated ones because there is much more variance in quality (CPH Apartment + BCN Pau Casals were both great in the past 2 weeks, but have also encountered ones which are terrible). Almost every airline operated lounge in Europe (especially Northern Europe and especially Schengen-only lounges) serves absolutely horrible food and is regularly crowded these days so it's not like KL stands out in any way.
On the bright side for AMS, Leon reopened both of their branches (many months ago), so there is now a decent, cheap and quick option for (slightly healthier) takeaway
