The Aspire T2 lounge is not very big (though the ceilings are high and the window is big). The food is very ordinary (pastries, soda bread, packaged snacks etc) for breakfast. The only hot item is porridge (so, no meat/potatoes/eggs). There's some beer and liquors. There is 1 shower available. No wait when I was there on a Monday morning, which was convenient. By all means, swing by. Just don't have your hopes up too much.
Does your family have global entry? I think it's more than safe to hang out in the lounge until 2 hours prior to boarding to go to pre-clearance, even without global entry. The Dublin Airport page has statuses for each flight, including when to go to US Preclearance.
Thank you!! I literally read your reply from the T2 Lounge! We were able to get a good breakfast on our layover. And it looks like T2 will also be our lounge on the way back - if I’m understanding the airport correctly, we’ll land in T1, get the bus to T2, then walk right by the T2 lounge on our way to Preclearance. And yes, we all have Global Entry, so sounds like we’ll have a good 2 hours to hang.
