Sometimes I would go from Huntington/Syosset/Hicksville to EWR or even PHL using public transport the entire way. Going to PHL was awful in terms of how long it would take to go the cheapest way; however, even as EWR was bearable, I found EWR best avoided unless having 1-2.5 hours more of time to give than the time for getting to LGA or JFK.
