So after my disaster of getting to JNB I will be complaining to BA


The gist of it will be I was specially told/guaranteed that myself and my companion (on different bookings that I had made using my Avios points) would have seats on the edi-Doha-Jnb. This is regardless of whatever rules ppl think they follow - I was definitely told the agent had/will sort it.

I specifically asked the agent to confirm this so I assume all calls are recorded and that confirmation is there.

He specifically said get to edi now as limited time to catch the flight.

On arrival, I checked in fine then and my friend tried. Failed and failed.

The agent hadn’t sorted a seat.

We were on the phone right till check in closed and in the end my friend didn’t get on board thereby cancelling his travel to Jnb with me and our dads (they had separate booking and we tagged along after they’d booked).

I still travelled however.

We were only going from Thursday (arriving Friday morning) and flying back on Sunday night and the original BA57 was delayed till Friday morning which would’ve killed a whole day of our short trip.

Any advice would be appreciated on this.
