The THC is a specific rate which may not be available on certain dates. You can't combine two nights together. It has to be the THC rate to qualify.
Thanks! I do find it weird that the availability has significantly declined for this hotel, so perhaps they've cut back on when/how many 'THC Rate' rooms they make available...
Unless someone has a particularly encouraging story, I'm going to presume I shouldn't bother calling Amex Travel to try and 'force' this into being a THC stay to get the $200 amex hotel credit and/or the $100 THC property credit?
