There's a THC property we like to visit for a staycation, and I've noticed this year that it's a LOT harder to find eligible dates for two day stays, even randomly/several months out. My suspicion is the hotel is trying to cut back on the benefit, though I'm a novice so not really sure if that's how it works. Anyways, here's my 'dumb' question(s): we have a specific 2-day stay in mind, and the hotel shows up as 'not available on those dates'. But if I search them individually as 1-night stays they do show rooms at what appear to be normal rates.

First question: If I'm reading terms and this thread correctly, if I book two one-night stays (or even just a single one night stay, then use hilton points for the second) I presume I won't receive the $200 hotel credit on the personal platinum, since it's meant to be for two day stays. Is that correct? Any data points suggesting otherwise, etc?

Second: if/since it's not showing up as available dates, but I know the hotel offers rates for those nights, is there any sense in my calling Amex to see if the agent can book both nights and somehow turn it into a THC stay? I'd even be ok without the $100 (though of course prefer it , but the $200 would be the difference between using points and paying out of pocket.

Third/Last: I've never booked Amex travel over the phone. *If* I were to call would I just try the number on the back of the card and say I want to book travel? Is there a secret phrase or department to ask for in order to get better service/hopefully an override of any limit, etc?
