Paramount Hotel, Seattle
Introduction I chose this hotel because of its proximity (one-block) to the Paramount Theater, at which we were attending a concert. We canceled a reservation at a Hyatt after hearing decent reviews of the Paramount. The Hyatt at Olive 8 rooms apparently are not well sound-proofed, and cost $100 more. I had confidence that, as an older hotel, the Paramount rooms would be well-sound-proofed, as they were indeed. Check In We arrived at 2 pm with 4 pm the advertised check-in time, and were effeciently accommodated in an upper floor, room with a decent view (sort of). Service The parking valet was quick and courteous. Dining We had breakfast at what is at night Chan restaurant. The food was very good. Room The room was clean and had very practical fixtures, with the exception of the expected old-style tub-shower with curtain. The climate control worked well, and the windows opened. During our visit, the hotel was being painted on the outside, so on the first day there was a plastic covering obscuring the view from one window (our corner room had two windows, and the other was not affected). They removed the plastic, then the workers came by again the next day. The hotel slipped a nicely worded letter under our door advising us of the work. Location The hotel is close to the Convention Center as well as the Paramount Theater, which is very elegant and a great small venue for world-class performers. Overall The hotel exceeded my expectations, and is a good value.
