Fwiw all these comments about it being hard to drive in Edinburgh seem to me very overblown. It doesn’t have narrow streets the way some European cities do, and more importantly drivers are sensible and well-behaved. I’d way rather drive through central Edinburgh than on a highway near NYC for example.

Bear in mind massive double decker buses manage just fine there, a wee SUV will have no trouble.

Am mentioning this just in case OP finds a good deal on a car in the city. I’d take that an just roll with it.
