1 King Standard, received 1 King Standard City View High Floor (a two-category upgrade, made even better by being allocated a room on the very top 17th floor and in just about the largest format that this particular room type comes in.)
How are the rooms?
Excellent. Spacious with excellent view being on the top floor. Wi-Fi was good, TV selection good (Chromecast available too), fully stocked minibar and great air conditioning. Seriously, seriously good bedding, to the point I've been googling it to see if I can purchase it for home!

What was good and what was bad?
The Good- Excellent room, appreciated the two-category upgrade.
- Great location, just two minutes from New Regent Street and less than five minutes from Cathedral Square. Christchurch is flat as a pancake so getting around on foot is super easy.
- Great variety at the breakfast buffet with hot food, bakery, cold cuts, fruits and a chef's station where you can order pancakes, porridge or eggs to order.
- Friendly and helpful staff.
- I arrived much later than planned due to a flight diversion. Hotel couldn't have been more helpful, when I called them at 2:45am local time to say I'd be late the cheerful receptionist said they had suspected I might be on the diverted flight and needn't worry, as a valued Diamond member they were holding my room and would see me when they say me.
The Bad- Shower water pressure could have been better.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Paid NZD $200/night, in my view an absolute steal. Excellent stay and will will definitely return the next time I'm in Ōtautahi Christchurch!
