Interestingly, just was preemptively upgraded ~3 weeks out from 2N in reefside + 1N in beachside to Superior OWV (which I believe is motu and not mountain-facing?). Any advice on which of the sOWVs to request - are there any that are sunset facing? Also, am I crazy to ask to stay in the beachside for the 1N because it has the Otemanu view and a private pool?
You should be able to look through this thread or search Google for the property map. I don't know that the superior has any view of the mountain. We were in a deluxe had had a partial view. TBH most of the time we went to the restaurant for the sunset to have drinks and then dinner. The SOWV's that are the closest to the restaurant have a sandy beach that no one uses that we thought were decent and required less walking.
Personally I didn't think the beach side villas were that great. Smaller pool and the beaches were not raked and had a lot of debris. Over water villa if you haven't been in one is worth trying out. It's nice to hop in the water, but the rooms have not been renovated and could use a good sanding on the decks. It's a nice place to have room service on the patio though. Reefside is a fantastic room with large pool, hammock, privacy, and short walk to the lagoon for the snorkeling. More interior space as well. You'll likely be happy in any room you are given.
