After 9pm departures often can't be avoided. Practically all airlines will serve full meal then. Even 1am, 2am departures will get a full meal IME. But most of the better airlines (not DL) will let you choose to get you get the full meal after departure or later on. The timing choice should be up to the pax. With DL that option is not provided.
