Why can’t BA serve cold wine (genuine question; not a complaint!)
Just off my FCO-LHR flight which was 2.5 hours delayed (not BA’s fault). We sat in the plane on the ground at FCO for 2 hours; the APU was running, the plane was lovely and cold but when the champagne and (white) wine finally got to us it was the temperature of cooling tea!
so I had always assumed that cold drinks were kept in some sort of powered refrigerator on board, but this would seem not to be the case?
if they are held simply in a cool box then I don’t see how they can ever hope to serve cold drinks, especially not on a return leg.
and do other airlines have a different solution? I never hesitate to ask for champagne on LX or need an ice cube in why Chardonnay on AA!
