Whether or not this rumour turns out to be true, it is right that that BA are relying on FLUB more than previously as part of how they are managing having too few wide body air frames available.
This cannot be very sensible in the medium term, if nothing else a First seat, takes up a fair bit more space than a Club seat. But getting there requires tackling the root causes of the current issues. Otherwise you are into short notice downgrades, bumping passengers and so on.
I’m not sure anyone, other than BA insiders, will really know how realistic achieving this is anytime soon.
