Stayed here for a few days. For the future, this would be a hard pass.
I booked a Jr. Suite. As a Diamond Ambassador I should get a upgrade, but in this case the is was the minimum room I would want, so that is what I booked.
The hotel is renovating, and so I emailed the hotel in advance (weeks in advance) and was promised one the renovated Jr. Suites overlooking the park. Upon arrival, all I was given was a Jr. Suite. I asked about an upgrade as a DA, and got a blank stare.
I was given what they are calling a renovated suite on the side of the building that could not see the park. It's not that the park is all that scenic, but it's better than staring at a high-rise adjacent the hotel. I went and talked the to desk, who said there was nothing that could be done. I could move the next day if I wanted.
This renovated room was "meh". I received a bottle of cheap red house wine as an apology. (I don't drink reds... LOL!)
Next day they moved me to a "Executive Suite", which was showing it's age. But it was on the park side. This was a good-sized suite, complete with a kitchenette. No plates or silverware, just 4 glasses on the counter. No ice in the freezer. A few bottles of water.
The hotel provides exactly TWO well-worn standard size bath towels. Reminded me of the bath towels we use at home for household cleaning once they are no longer comfortable to use after a shower.
I went to the pool area; no attendant to order drinks. You need to order them from some app... Lime maybe? They were way overpriced, and said it would take 25 minutes to deliver them. I canceled that and went to the bar. They don't offer take-away drinks. I finally browbeat the staff to help and they delivered the overpriced drinks... about 20 minutes later.
I had asked for an over-priced room service bottle to be delivered to my room while I was out. When I was returning hours later the front desk chased after me saying they were out of stock.
I got back to my room to discover that the hot water was not working. I called down and they wanted to send someone to the room. I pointed out that I had tried the shower, the tub, and all four sinks in the room. Unless the boiler was located in the room, I didn't see a need for anyone to come to make sure I knew how to turn on the hot water valve. Called again in the morning because it still wasn't fixed. I came back from a run (in the park... 90F+ / 32C+ at 7:30am!) and received a call that they had restarted the boiler and I should let the water run 10 minutes. I could tell it was working, but 10 minutes wasn't enough. Anyway...
They offer a "happy hour" in the lounge, with VERY LIMITED selections. And the hours they operated it didn't match what was on the printed page the distributed at check-in.
If/when I return to Bangkok (and didn't want to pay the exorbitant Intercontinental rate), I'd look into the Kimpton that is located very near the Crowne Plaza.
IMO, this is a serious management problem. The staff was very friendly.
