Hi there - I apologize if this has been asked before. I'm trying to book a one-way JAL J award from SAN to TPE with a month of stopover in Tokyo. On AS website, I see award availability from SAN to NRT on 8/15, and from NRT to TPE on 9/28.
But when I put these two together with a multi-city search, AS throws an error.
I've redeemed the same route with AS miles pre Covid, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something here or if anything has changed. I saw in the wiki that TPE is now considered in the Southeast Asia region, so I tried Seoul (which according to the wiki is in the same region as Tokyo) but received the same error. Is there any obvious reason that makes this impossible? I'm about to call AS later tonight, but any pointer before I do that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I would've guessed it's the length of the stopover that might be an issue here, but I can't find any info on what the actual longest stopover permitted is, so that can't be it.
The classic explanation here is usually reverse married segments - JAL does not allow for the two tickets to be redeemed together, only separate. But just a guess. Try calling in?
