Is there really anything to think about though? There are multiple posts explaining why this won't work. Those reports of people getting lucky weren't cutting it as close as you. When you rock up at the tail end of the boarding process (optimistic to begin with) the gate staff will be frantically trying to finalise the flight. The last thing they need is someone being asked to be put on the flight they're about to close.
