Call to reservations diverted to medical care with an offer of a free Medic Alert

I was unable to cancel an award booking online and received a message that I needed to call. I haven't called BA since pre Covid so used a phone number in my address book. I was asked to indicate if I am over 50 and I am. I ended up at the medical care line - embarrassing, nothing wrong with me - and I feared I was taking attention from someone who actually needed it. But then it got stranger. I was offered a free medic alert system that connects to a button I wear on a chain around my neck. This would be shipped to me and would all be free of charge. I politely disengaged but remain confused as to why BA is offering this promotion. Thoughts?
