And I have gotten the pop-up a number of times on specific cards (Hilton business like 4 times!), discontinued the applications, and sometimes days later getting approved for NLL offers like biz Plat/Gold.
We have at least one report from a poster who claimed that no popup notification was displayed, but American Express claimed it had been and did not issue the bonus. I doubt that I could locate it now, and I do not think that a single incident tells us much.
Thanks for the reply comments which were part of my impetus to more aggressively apply for a(nother) Biz Plat (as below).
Datapoints regarding pop-up and accuracy thereof:
- Never had an AmEx Marriott card of any type, ~60 AmEx SUBs past 20 years, May 2021 thru July 2022 6 applications with pop-up for AmEx Marriott Biz and 5-6 approved AmEx NLL Biz Plat/Gold, June 2022 instantly approved AmEx Marriott Biz (I’ll post again if SUB does not post as expected).
- Past 2.3 years ~12 NLL Biz Plat/Gold, today is 95 days since last approval, no recent NLL offers, past 4 days tried several links for 150K and 200K Biz Plat NLL applications, including referrals from fellow FTers, all expired, tried (desperation
) LL application today, pop-up received almost as expected.
- My only declined SUBs for an AmEx approval go back at least 5-6 years, before pop-up instituted.
My point is that the pop-up may sometimes seem random, as per the multiple pop-ups I received for the Marriott Biz card, but that ultimately the pop-up may well be accurate, as per the pop-up I received for what would have been my 8th Biz Plat in the past 2.3 years.
