A very nice upgrade indeed. I do think though that the exec rooms with castle views might be slightly better even though they aren’t junior suites, because of the view.
Otherwise nothing really to update from above. Customer service was exceptional throughout - the staff are very nice, solid health club, great pool and spa area, and really top breakfast especially the pastries and fruit/yoghurt sections. There was a nice card from the GM in the room with welsh cakes and extra cans of water as a welcome amenity. Great service.
I took a picture of the diamond welcome letter. It’s quite funny that the lounge information specifies “flapjacks” - maybe that’s a thing at this hotel!!! Ultimately the lounge is the weakest point by far. The constant BBC News on 3 huge TVs is like being in the reception of some corporation’s flashy glass windowed lobby waiting for someone to come down and let you in for your appointment. Or something. Nobody much there during the day, I think it’s just so depressing with the constant politics on TV at full volume. And the evening food remains absolutely terrible. Tiny chicken thighs or beetroot falafels from Costco and squirts of fish paste on coin size crackers. Even the olives have been removed. During the day there are indeed flapjacks, plus apples and pretzels, coffee machine, canned Coke products and canned water.
If the property fixed the lounge this property would IMO catapult into one of the top UK properties for diamond members. Everything else is spot on.
Thanks for the report…appreciate this!.
I have a potential gig booking in Cardiff for August, handy to know this is still a solid choice.
