I really enjoyed my stay at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle - it's not perfect, especially with small default lounge offerings, but you can tell the staff cares. I also think it's a testament to quality that the hotel has managed to keep the 20+-year-old decor package looking fresh and feeling comfortable. Here are my pros, cons, and photos:
Pros:
- While they wouldn't upgrade me to a suite (even after checking with the manager) (seemed like most types only showed 1 available online the morning of arrival), they did put me in the nicest room on the same floor as the lounge (25) - truly impressive view, and nice wrap around layout that kept the bed away from the door
- The bed was fantastic - super plush mattress, plush covers, plush pillows - I fell asleep with the lights on
- Desk chair was very comfortable
- Really enjoyed the throwback decor package - my childhood come back to life
- The view was obviously wonderful - a true pinnacle facing the city and mountains
- Shower pressure was great
- Delivered a lovely welcome gift - personalized virgin passion fruit mule with my name on the can label, plate with yummy macarons, chocolate truffles, and chocolate covered strawberries
- Service at the desk from Felix and the other agents was very friendly
- Offered late checkout - no issue with the 4 PM I requested
- Service in the lounge at breakfast was very friendly and personal, and they special ordered some really yummy scrambled eggs for me from the kitchen downstairs
- Cookies in the lounge were quite good
Neutral:
- The lounge is small so choices during services are limited - breakfast only had ham, egg bites with spinach, and french toast - the staff was very nice when I asked for scrambled eggs
- Evening service seemed to have some chicken choices (didn't try)
- They do have a nice Nespresso machine, and the French toast was decent
Cons:
- WiFi could be quite slow but was sometimes decent
- No Internet streaming options on the TV
Well, I still enjoyed the Pinnacle.
