AC Hotel St. Louis Central West End
New hotel in 2021. Nice alternative to downtown St. Louis. The immediate area is an excellent neighborhood. Whole Foods and First Watch are a few blocks down the street. The hotel offers valet parking but the parking garage directly across the street is $15 per day and more convenient than valet parking. The parking garage does have elevators, for reference. Check in is without issue and without recognition of status beyond the "points or $10". Based on a search of the rooms, the rooms are all identical with the exception of the view; and the view is limited due to the height of the neighboring building. The best room would be the higher floor without an adjoining room with a view. The room did have an adjoining room but the noise was minimal. The shower is a rain shower w/ handheld. The controls are on the opposite side so that is a good thing; but the water pressure is an issue. My preference is a standard shower but the handheld will do. The water pressure was lacking for the handheld and the hot water was lacking. Not ideal for a new hotel. The room is nice but I have a feeling I am walking through an Ikea every time I enter the room. The bed is okay but the pillows are not okay. The setup is great for one and perhaps two but bad for more than two people. The TV is quite large and the channels are more than enough. Breakfast is at 6:30 but not the typical breakfast. The offerings are akin to an arrivals lounge at the airport. No indication breakfast accommodates take away, though. The refrigerator is a nice size with a glass front and is relatively quiet. The room is relatively dark with a the exception of a gap between the curtain (addressed with tape) and an assortment of LED lights on the TV and the light switches (addressed with LED blackout stickers).
update: The adjoining rooms are problematic. At some point the situation becomes disturbing as you can hear every word by every person in the adjoining room.
Nice hotel in a very nice neighborhood without options for status recognition beyond the limited view. The alternative Marriott hotels with options for status recognition are downtown or elsewhere or not in per diem.
