Apologies for stating the obvious, but what about, um, Zurich? It's a nice smaller city, it's easily walkable, and saves you schlepping your stuff across the continent. Arrive from London, 10min train ride, hotel downtown, easy day, nice dinner, back to the airport the next morning.
