I've never heard of having to pay to use the pool at a hotel you are staying at. Crazy. What next, you don't have elevator access included so you'll have to use the stairs?
But I have stayed at plenty of hotels of various brands where they say at check in they are giving you a room on the club floor or wherever but you don’t club access. The problem here seems to be check in staff calling that arrangement an upgrade when it's merely a room location. Semantics but important.
