In response to OP, the basic tenet of any contract is consensus. If they did not advise you that use of the pool was for an extra charge, you should not have to pay. I would tell them that that particular charge is not authorized and if they don’t remove it, you will escalate with Marriott and your credit card company - and leave a bad review while you’re at it.
You really shouldn’t have to fight tooth and nail for common sense best practices! Frustrating that they gave you the run around…
