In al l my visits to SHH, I was always offered Lounge access as long as it existed, so not sure what the truth is. I think post merger and covid has allowed many hotels to cut back on benefits and hide behind blaming Marriott and Covid. That said I feel that Bonvoy is a shadow of SPG. The only benefit on Bonvoy is a wider range of hotels but this is very limited on the countries I normally visit so for me it's just a poor relation to SPG. Those were the good old days.
Yes, I miss SPG immensely. I've switched to Hyatt. Some properties go above and beyond even SPG, while others are good and stick to program rules but don't go above. Aside from lack of properties where I travel, I might actually prefer Hyatt to SPG.
MMarriott is now my 2nd or maybe 3rd backup
